What are SQA Awards for Cadets?

Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) – along with our sister organisation Lowland RFCA – have developed a suite of recognised qualifications which formalises the learning and development young people achieve as members of the Cadet Organisations in Scotland, and equips them with qualifications that are recognised outside the Cadet Organisations.

How do these Awards benefit Cadets?

Being a Cadet is a lot of fun; being with friends, going on adventures, learning new skills and much much more. But when can you turn that sort of fun into ‘life points’? With Cadet SQA Awards you can turn all of that fun into qualifications that will enhance you CV and job prospects. What’s not to love?!

Leaving school can be a scary and competitive time. With lots of competition how do you best stand out? Did you know employers and further education recognise Cadet SQA Awards? Turn your time in the cadets in to lifelong valuable experience that will help you succeed.

Very few of us enjoy exams. Did you know with Cadet SQAs you can build your CV without doing any more exams? Cadet SQAs don’t require any more exams, meaning you gain without the revision and stress. Sounds pretty good right?!

If you’re aware that your Cadet Unit offers SQA Awards for Cadets, why not speak first to one of the team and see whether they can get you going. If your Cadet Unit doesn’t currently partake in the programme, but you would like to explore your options further, why not get in touch with Lynette Brough, the SQA Co-ordinator based at Lowland RFCA’s Glasgow HQ?

The SQA Cadet offer wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of the Cadet Leaders. Perhaps you want to learn more about the Awards for your unit, or you’re looking for some support or assistance. In either case, we’re here to help you every step of the way. Please get in touch with Lynette Brough who would be delighted to speak to you about the Awards programme and link you up with the resources and materials you need.
